La gente de esos sitios que prometen decirte la gente que te tiene bloqueada ha sido partícipe de dos ataques DDos. En pocas palabras un ataque DDos sucede cuando un conjunto de computadoras realizan muchas peticiones a una misma página/servidor.

El primer ataque fue hacia el famoso blog Genbeta y la razón fue publicar un artículo que decía la verdad de esos sitios (que almacenan contraseñas, que en realidad no comprueban quien te tiene bloqueado, etc). El servidor como consecuencia sigue caído.

El segundo ataque, en cambio, no fue hacia un blog sino hacia el sitio meneame. Y seguramente el motivo fue porque en la página principal, donde están las noticias más votadas, se encontraba justamente noticias del DDos hacia Genbeta. Afortunadamente los administradores de meneame pudieron frenar el ataque y evitar que el servidor se caíga. Pueden ver la entrada en el blog oficial aquí.

Hace un montón Ivan comentaba sobre las capacidades de la Ageia, ahora la compañía es adquirida por Nvidia. Juntas me parece que lograran más soporte en los juegos y aplicaciones que necesiten una física más avanzada.

meebo.com, el cliente IM más conocido, ahora permite el envio de archivos.

When Matt, our server intern, joined us this summer we talked about a lot potential projects he could tackle. Here at meebo we like to give the interns free reign to try out a bunch of stuff but at the same time, incorporate as much as we can into the main product.

Matt, being the enthusiastic guy he is, picked the meatiest project we could throw at him for the summer. Ever since meebo launched almost 2 years ago, there’s been a front-runner of feature requests that has always made our lists. On almost every release, it manages to sneak into a comment, a blog comment, a forum post, and many an email… hence why it made the intern project list. With Vijay’s help, Matt has been working hard to bring you all one of the most highly requested features in meebo’s history… drum roll please… file transfer!

You’re thinking, “no way!!!” Way!

You’ll notice that there’s a new bright and shiny button on the IM window toolbar (the white square with the swanky green arrow). We’ve tried to make the whole transfer process as easy as we could, so all you have to do is click a button and upload a file. The receiver on the other end will get a link to click on (similar to a meebo rooms invite) and all they have to do is click and accept. We’re only allowing meebo account holders to send files, but anyone can receive… even your friends who are not on meebo (but should be =p). We’re not quite supporting this feature in Safari yet, but hopefully soon!

In addition we’ve thrown in a few more animated emoticons (check out “hug” in particular) and a few bug fixes as well. We’re super excited to see what you all think so please send us feedback and suggestions.
